Innerspring units offer a number of different "coil counts"- the number of coils in the mattress. Actual coil count is generally based on a full-size mattress. Therefore, twin mattresses will have fewer coils while the kings and queens will have more. The coil count and wire thickness (or gauge) determine how much support the innerspring offers and its ability to evenly distribute weight.
