Dava Dahlgran started her artistic career as a commercial artist, later doing camera work for an offset printer and eventually working as a photographer in a crime laboratory before devoting full time to fine art.

Dava’s medium of choice is Colored Pencil. She uses the high quality wax or oil-based colored pencil alone or in combination with various gold and metal leafing products and other mixed media. Her work has been included in four books featuring colored pencil art: The Best of Colored Pencil 2, 3, & 4 and Creative Colored Pencil by Vera Curnow, all published by Rockport Publishers.

Major Shows have included the 2002 CPSA Explore This!2 International Juried Exhibition in Stuart, Florida and participation in ‘The Human Puzzle’, a 4-artist invitational exhibit at the Willowtree Gallery, Idaho Falls, ID. More recently her solo show, The sum of all p(ARTs)2 , at the Willowtree Gallery was a major success. Dava has participated in the Northwest Color shows in Portland, Oregon, and Seattle, Washington, as well as all CPSA District Chapter 217 annual exhibits, and numerous other exhibits, shows and fairs.

Memberships for Dava include charter membership in the Colored Pencil Society of America (CPSA) in which she previously held the office of District Chapter Development Director at the National level. dava is also a charter member of the West Virginia Watercolor Society and CPSA District Chapter 217, Idaho Falls, which she founded. She is an active member of the Idaho Falls Arts Council.
